Presented March 14, 2014 for the Civita Institute's Passo Dopo Passo Fundraising Event

ALAN MASKIN is a partner and principal at Olson Kundig Architects. For more than two decades he has focused on the design of cultural projects including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center, Zooraji -Park in Busan, South Korea, and the Bezos Center for Innovation at the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI). His work has been published in a variety of national and international media including The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Architectural Record and The Wall Street Journal.

This presentation features the work of Olson Kundig Architects as Alan discusses the challenges of designing exhibit space for permanent collections, special exhibition galleries, galleries, new forms of public convening and destination gathering spaces.  He demonstrates new modalities for collaboration among a broad spectrum of entrepreneurs including artists, poets, baristas, and farmers.  Alan will emphasize interactive and multi- media installations that educate and ignite!  A natural story-teller, Alan will share his narrative approach toward programming and design from concept through post-occupancy evaluation sharing stories about collaborations with museum owners, museum-goers and passersby within the civic community.
