We are excited to announce our 2018 Fellows!
Laura Bartunek will be following in the author Italo Calvino's footsteps and re-imagine the town of Civita di Bagnoregio as a collection of Invisible Cities. She would like to study the intangible sensations and unseen histories of Civita and create an illustrated book where each page becomes an isolated quality of this town retold as a new world.
Taehyung Kim has proposed a series of analytical drawings that embody a phenomenological experience of the city, followed by a series of site-specific discreet installations that slightly augments the spatial perception of the city.
Luann Bice is proposing a "listening" project (using audio, video and other media) that will invite and record multiple perspectives about Civita di Bagnoregio including the significance of age-old places in our contemporary lives, their impact on how we view aging and how these places change.
Jean Hicks proposes a study of locally-produced wool in the region surrounding Civita di Bagnoregio (Sopravissana, Sarda and Comisana sheep), wool cleaning techniques (such as scouring using Umbrian limestone and dolomite), dyes (woad and black walnut), and their use in fashion applications both historic and modern.
