Taehyung Kim's "Haptic Reading of Civita" explores methods of site analysis based on lived-body experience, our mostimmediate dataset.Exercises weredoneto experience and engage with space intimately and recorded visually for further study.
His multi-media exploration investigates bodily experience to analyze the city of Civita di Bagnoregio. Drawings andexercises integrate a wide range of ideas from neuroscience to dance, suggesting haptic engagement as a tool to increase our spatial awareness and strengthen spatial memory.
These collective works suggest ways to sensitively engage with the architectural surroundings in our daily lives beyond the unique site conditions of Civita Bagnoregio.
Taehyung is a Korean Canadian, Seattle - based artist and architect. Taehyung earned a M.Arch and Honors and a B.Arch at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture. He participated in the University of Washington Rome Studies Program between 2011-2012. He is currently a designer at Graham Baba Architects.
