In Memoriam

Anthony Costa Heywood
Legacy Donor

The community of The Civita Institute joins the people of Civita di Bagnoregio in mourning the passage of Anthony Costa Heywood (b. Athens, Georgia July 19, 1936, d. Civita di Bagnoregio, November 18, 2024). ‘Tony’ was a member of the original 1981 Advisory Board of NIAUSI/ The Civita Institute. He was the husband of NIAUSI/ Civita Institute primary founder and donor, the late Professor Astra Zarina. He was also a Legacy Donor to The Civita Institute. Tony passed away in Civita, in one of the historic houses that he and Astra lovingly restored. His funeral was held in the church of S. Donato on Wednesday afternoon, November 20.

The Civita Institute honored Tony in his lifetime by honoring its agreements governing the Civita Institute mission and properties donated by Astra and Tony. Our community is thankful to him and will continue to honor him by maintaining these properties and our commitment to realizing the mission of The Civita Institute. Rest in peace, Tony.
